Clinical Research Executive

Responsible for management review and control of comprehensive clinical research programs to increase scientific knowledge on medical-related topics.: Confers with management to establish strategic program directions, allocation of resources, projects costs, and timeframes. Ensures coordination among a variety of scientific disciplines and staff functions to ensure that departmental objectives are met. Hire, trains, and motivates a qualified research management staff. Clinical Research Manager

Oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of ongoing and new clinical research studies. Assists in all aspects of study design, implementation, and administration. Plans and organizes the daily operations of the Research Department, to include protocol and systems, budgeting, staffing, and grant/contract administration. Reports to the Chief Medical Officer. : Provides day-to-day technical leadership and administrative supervision to clinical and technical staff engaged in research. Ensures regulatory and scientific integrity of projects. Evaluates, monitors, and documents all study parameters. Provides initial contract review utilizing legal review and provides contract management. Forecasts product requirements for clinical trials. Organizes advisory and investigator meetings. Develops, implements, and evaluates specific research and data collection methodologies, protocols, systems, and techniques. Participates in experiment design. Develops quality standards and programs. Oversees budget review process and negotiations. Participates in staff hiring, provides training, allocates and coordinates work assignments, and evaluates performance of staff.

Clinical Services Director

Establishes appropriate levels of care and provides strategic direction and oversight of all clinical and educational programs in a hospice or home care organization. Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates outcomes of clinical service's strategic plans. Leads the development, implementation, and coordination of quality, cost effective patient care programs, contributing to excellent patient care, education, and outcomes. Typically requires licensure as a Registered Nurse with five years of clinical nursing experience.: Responsible for identifying and capitalizing on clinical program opportunities. Promotes and develops a clinical service culture throughout the organization. Works closely with the medical staff to ensure that clinical services are provided in an efficient and effective manner. Prepares and manages the departmental budget. Hires, develops, and motivates a qualified clinical services department staff.

Supervisor Clinical Engineering

Oversees planning, implementing, directing, and controlling activities, operations, and programs in the Clinical Engineering department. Typically requires a college degree and technical proficiency/knowledge of concepts, operation, repairs, and clinical equipment maintenance that may be acquired through three years of related clinical engineering experience.: Develops routine periodic maintenance, quality assurance testing, calibration, performance criteria, and emergency service response that will ensure safe and proper use of clinical equipment. Provides clinical engineering training and monitors employee work to ensure proper maintenance and of clinical equipment. Plans, organizes, and distributes the department work assignments. May order supplies and maintain supply inventory

Clinical Pharmacist

Responsible for providing clinical pharmacy services support for formulary development and maintenance, pull-through development and drug information services.: This position requires completion of Pharmacy D. degree or BS degree in pharmacy and clinical training and experience. Writes, coordinates and presents evaluations of drugs. Reviews prescriptions issued by physician, or other authorized prescriber to assure accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed. Provides clinical support for updating the formulary’s clinical guideline sections. Creates formulary groupings and new charts and graphs for the clinical and drug listing sections. Prepares, reviews and revises physician reference sheets. Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs. Performs literature searches and analyzes data to answer questions surrounding drug therapy. Provides clinical material for newsletter, including formulary notification items. Presents and coordinates educational programs. Ensures that pharmacotherapy treatment recommendations in the disease management program are consistent with formulary initiatives. May instruct interns and other medical personnel on matters pertaining to pharmacy, or teach in college of pharmacy.

Clinical Research Nurse

Coordinates and participates in clinical research studies conducted by physicians. Plans, coordinates, evaluates and manages nursing care of participants and data for assigned research projects. Follows study-specific protocol guidelines and communicates and interacts with investigators, hospital staff, sponsoring agencies, and others to effectively perform clinical research and coordinate research activities. : Ensures that patient treatment provided by primary care personnel and data collected adhere to study protocol. Screens patients for inclusion in study based on pre-determined criteria. Maintains inventory of unique drugs and supplies needed for study. Provides basic patient care and treatment as requested by Physician. Obtains patient blood samples, cultures, tissues, and other specimens for laboratory analysis. Initiates drug orders and laboratory studies for patients based on standing protocol orders. Provides direction and training to nursing staff on techniques for mixing and administering new drugs and other forms of patient care and treatment unique to the study being conducted. Maintains interface with nursing and other professional staff to interpret protocol application for patient and to answer questions about the study in progress. Confers with patient and attending Physician to explain purpose of study and obtain written consent for patient to participate. Explains diagnostic procedures and method of treatment to alleviate patient and family concern. Collects information and data from patient charts and records, patient interviews, and other sources. Evaluates and interprets collected data and prepares protocol summary forms, statistical reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations or conclusions. Confers with Physician in developing plans and protocols for clinical research studies and to discuss the interpretation of results and the preparation of manuscripts for publication. Reviews journals, abstracts, and scientific literature to keep abreast of new developments and to obtain information regarding previous studies to aid in the planning of new studies.

Clinical Nutrition Manager

Manages, plans, and coordinates the clinical nutrition services function and supervises staff to provide nutrition assessment, care planning, monitoring, education, and counseling of hospitalized patients and outpatients in a variety of settings. Requires a degree in nutrition and registration with the American Dietetic Association as a Clinical Dietitian and five years of experience as a Clinical Dietitian. : Hires, develops, and motivates a qualified clinical nutrition staff. Prepares and monitors the departmental budget. Oversees the preparation and distribution of appropriate reports and analyses for nutrition services. Consults with physicians and other health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of patients. Ensures ongoing patient care plans, patient education, and diet instruction. Formulates menus for therapeutic diets based on medical and physical condition of patients and integrates patient's menus with basic institutional menus. Inspects meals served for conformance to prescribed diets and for standards of palatability and appearance. Develops, implements, and maintains department policies and procedures. Plans and coordinates work schedules and daily work load of the clinical nutrition staff. May provide nutrition education programs to outpatient groups. May teach nutrition and diet therapy to medical students and hospital personnel.

Chief Clinical Dietitian

Coordinates all phases of nutritional care and supervises the clinical dietitian staff to provide nutrition services. Coordinates and manages nutrition assessment, care planning, monitoring, education and counseling of hospitalized patients and outpatients in a variety of settings. A degree in nutrition and registration with the American Dietetic Association as a Clinical Dietitian is required for this position with three years of experience as a Clinical Dietitian.: Plans and supervises Clinical Dietitians engaged in providing professional advice on diet therapies, instructing patients and families on nutrition, and evaluating patients' responses to diets. Consults with physician and other health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of patients. Ensures ongoing patient care plans, patient education, and diet instruction. Formulates menus for therapeutic diets based on medical and physical condition of patients and integrates patient's menus with basic institutional menus. Hires, develops, and motivates a qualified clinical dietitian staff. Inspects meals served for conformance to prescribed diets and for standards of palatability and appearance. Instructs patients and their families in nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selection, and preparation. Develops, implements, and maintains department policies and procedures. Plans and coordinates work schedules and daily work load of the clinical dietitians and dietetic interns. May teach nutrition and diet therapy to medical students and hospital personnel. May provide nutrition education programs to outpatient groups.

Clinical Research Technician (Entry)

Provides assistance in a clinical research laboratory with basic experiments.: Provides laboratory assistance and conducts standard tests which may involve human and animal medical research. Prepares equipment and aids scientist during tests and examinations. Maintains the laboratory and ensures availability of required supplies and equipment. Performs administrative duties in the laboratory to include maintenance of records and report preparation. Maintains laboratory equipment. This position typically requires a college degree in health sciences. Specialized training in clinical research may be required.

Clinical Research Technician (Mentor)

Designs, conducts and interprets a variety of complex clinical research experiments in the laboratory.: Conducts more complex laboratory testing involving medical research. Develops procedures for use in research protocols and experiments. Prepares equipment and aids scientist during tests and examinations. Maintains the laboratory and ensures availability of required supplies and equipment. Performs administrative duties in the laboratory to include maintenance of records and report preparation. Maintains laboratory equipment. This position typically requires an advanced degree in health sciences and five years of clinical research experience. This level may require completion of Clinical Research Professional exam. May provide input into the final report.
