Directs organization's activities of strategic planning, evaluation, coordination, and implementation of various managed health care programs (HMO's, PPO's, long-term care). Organizes and develops short- and long-term planning programs to ascertain community and organization's requirements. Typically reports to Hospital Administrator and directs subordinate staff.: Administers fiscal operations such as budget planning and establishing rates for alternative delivery services. May recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action. Analyzes department budget to identify budget needs and or reductions, and may allocate operating budget's funds. Interprets company policy to employees and enforces safety regulations.

Home Care and Hospice Director

Responsible for administration, management, and long-range planning of the Home Care and Hospice Departments. Manages multiple disciplines which may include nursing services, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, social work, respite care, and home helpers. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing and five or more years of management experience in home care and hospice.: Represents the organization in the service area and directs a coordinated team effort for patient care and customer service. Directs, supervises, and governs the home care and hospice programs including in-patient care, home care, and bereavement follow-up. Administers and maintains quality assurance, environmental, and infection control policies in accordance with objectives, policies, and procedures. Prepares reports regarding the activities of the operation. Directs and supervises the work of staff in providing for the care and needs of patients. Develops, maintains, and implements policies and procedures. Hires, trains, and motivates a qualified staff. Confers and cooperates with management personnel in formulating administrative and operational policies and procedures. Reviews and analyzes expenditure, financial, and operations reports to determine requirements for assisted living operations. Approves requisitions for equipment, materials, and supplies.

Supervisor Managed Care

Supervises and coordinates the activities of personnel in the managed care department of a healthcare facility to ensure department productivity and quality goals are met. Assists with the analysis of the financial and operational impact of managed care contracts and the maintenance of related databases within the overall structure developed by the Director of Managed Care. Participates in and provides oversight of contract compliance activities and maintains relationships with key health plan contacts. Serves as a liaison to Finance Department regarding managed care related issues.: Hires, schedules, and monitors staff in the Managed Care Department. Ensures employees receive appropriate orientation and training to perform their jobs, including writing and communicating standard operating procedures. Tracks employee time and attendance. Provides financial data to management as well as other reporting concerning daily operations within the department. Tracks, communicates, and compares key terms and conditions and reviews the language of all managed care contracts to ensure terms and conditions meet the standards established by the Managed Care Department. Manages multiple projects within required timelines. Performs data entry, maintenance, and reporting for database of all active contracts as well as other hospital information systems. Supports negotiations by providing reports or other contract comparison tools. Negotiates with health plans on a case by case basis for services not covered under contract.

Certified Nurse Aide Long-Term Care

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or LPN, provides direct patient care to patients consistent with nursing aide program preparation within a long-term care facility.: Prepares patients, equipment and supplies for specific procedures and provide manual assistance as required. Obtains and records patient data for medical records noting and informing RN/LPN of information collected. Administers treatment and personal care procedures to patients to include feeding, bathing, shaving, changing clothing, cleaning and trimming fingernails, bed-making, assisting with ambulation, enemas, skin care, and bowel and bladder elimination. Provides such additional care as required to meet the personal needs and comfort of assigned patients. Assists physician and nurses with physical examinations by helping position patients, changing non-sterile dressing and weighing patients. Notes and reports any changes in patient's condition. Takes and records vital signs, records input and output, applies ice bags, and administers enemas. Turns and positions patients, feeds patients as necessary, and provides patients with fresh drinking water. Performs finger sticks for blood glucose testing with appropriate training. Assists with admission, discharge, and transportation of patients. This position requires completion of a nurse’s aide program and certification.

Intensive Care Unit Nurse

Provides professional nursing care for intensive care unit patients. Prepares equipment and assists physician during examinations and treatments. Requires RN license.: Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, and monitors vital signs. Observes and maintains records on patient care, condition, reaction, and progress.

Home Care Nurse

Provides professional nursing care for assigned patients in their home. Evaluates, plans, and makes appropriate changes to the home care nursing process. Requires RN license.: Assesses the patient's condition and the home environment. Instructs patient and family members on health care.

Home Care Aide Supervisor

Supervises activities of aides engaged in caring for elderly, convalescent, or disabled people in a home environment. Monitors the quality and quantity of services provided. This position typically reports to a manager and is the first level of supervision in the organization.: Analyzes and resolves work problems, and assists employees in solving work problems. Develops and implements new programs and services.

Home Care Aide Coordinator

Coordinates the schedules of aides engaged in caring for elderly, convalescent, or disabled people in a home environment. Adjusts work schedules to meet coverage needs.: Prepares and submits staffing reports on aide activities. Maintains record of reports. Verifies time sheets.

Critical Care Unit Nurse

Provides nursing care to Critical Care Unit patients in hospital or similar health care facility. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques. Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatments and examinations of patients. Requires RN license.: Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents. Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient. Lends psychological and emotional support. Answers questions and concerns and provides information to patients and their family members regarding patients' care and treatment.

Aide Home Care

Provides simple or uncomplicated patient care in caring for elderly, convalescent, or disabled people in patient's home.: Changes bed linens, washes and irons patient's laundry, and cleans patient's quarters. Purchases, prepares, and serves food for patient and other members of family, following special prescribed diets. Assists patients into and out of bed, automobile, or wheelchair, to lavatory, and up and down stairs. Assists patient to dress, bathe, and groom self. Massages patient and applies preparations and treatments, such as liniment or alcohol rubs and heat-lamp stimulation. Administers prescribed oral medications under written direction of physician or as directed by home care nurse. Accompanies ambulatory patients outside home, serving as guide, companion, and aide. Entertains patient, reads aloud, and plays cards or other games with patient. Performs variety of miscellaneous duties as requested, such as obtaining household supplies and running errands. May maintain records of services performed and of apparent condition of patient. May visit several households to provide daily health care to patients.
