Assists with the planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating of nursing service and education programs of the hospital, diagnostic and treatment center, or a major unit with the Nursing Department. This position reports to the Director of Nursing. Supervises daily clinical activities of nursing units, assesses performance of nursing staff, and monitors quality of care provided to all residents. : Assists with ensuring Nursing Department compliance with all Federal, State, and corporate regulations and guidelines. Facilitates effective employer/employee relations. Recruits and selects nursing service employees. Trains and mentors staff on proper daily documentation.

Nursing Skilled Nursing Facility Director

Directs administrative and clinical functions provided by a skilled nursing facility or a division of a skilled nursing facility.: This position requires license as a Registered Nurse with five years of clinical nursing experience in a skilled nursing facility. Must be skilled to work with a wide range of staff as part of an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff. Performs in a leadership capacity for clinical practice, supervision, teaching, and research. Coordinates activities of the nursing specialty units under management with other patient care units. Provides oversight and direction in establishing and maintaining a system for developing, reviewing, approving and disseminating standards of clinical practice. Assists in reviewing and making recommendations on policy issues regarding clinical practice within specific nursing disciplines within the organization. Identifies problem areas in areas of responsibility and takes corrective action. Manages daily operations and budget. Develops and coordinates plans and policies, resources, and goals for the department. Ensures compliance with nursing care standards and applicable laws, regulations, and/or institution rules, standards and guidelines. Hires, trains and motivates a competent nursing staff.

Skilled Nursing Certified Nursing Assistant

Assists nurses by performing various basic care activities related to services essential to caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients in a skilled nursing facility. Provides simple or uncomplicated patient care in a skilled nursing facility by performing the following functions for patients: dressing, grooming, bathing, feeding, toileting, taking vital signs, providing oral care, providing nail care, providing catheter care, answering call lights, assisting patients in wheel chairs, transporting patients, turning bedridden patients, reporting patient changes, filling linens, and taking out trash. This position typically requires completion of an approved Nursing Assistant Certification program.: Assists nurses by performing various basic care activities related to services essential to caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients in a skilled nursing facility. Provides simple or uncomplicated patient care in a skilled nursing facility by performing the following functions for patients: dressing, grooming, bathing, feeding, toileting, taking vital signs, providing oral care, providing nail care, providing catheter care, answering call lights, assisting patients in wheel chairs, transporting patients, turning bedridden patients, reporting patient changes, and filling linens. This position typically requires completion of an approved Nursing Assistant Certification program. Promptly answers patient call bells. Bathes and dresses bed patients, combs hair, and otherwise attends to their comfort and personal appearance. Cleans room and changes bed linen. Takes and records temperature, pulse, and respiration rate. Gives medication as directed by Physician or Nurse and makes notation of amount and time given. Gives enemas, douches, massages, and alcohol rubs. Applies hot and cold compresses and hot water bottles. Sterilizes equipment and supplies, using germicides, sterilizer, or autoclave and assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment. Observes patients for changes in condition or behavior and promptly reports these changes to appropriate licensed nursing personnel. Prepares food trays, feeds patients, and records food and liquid intake and output. May give injections.

Nursing Services Director

Directs, through managers, supervisors or head nurses, activities of nursing staff. Administers nursing program in hospital or other medical institution to maintaining standards of patient care. This is the highest level position in patient care.: Plans and organizes activities in nursing services, such as obstetrics, pediatrics, or surgery, or for two or more patient-care units to ensure patient needs are met in accordance with instructions of physician and hospital administrative procedures. Coordinates activities with other patient care units. Advises medical staff, department heads, and hospital administrator in matters related to nursing services. Recommends establishment or revision of policies, and develops organizational structure and standards of performance. Interprets policies and objectives of hospital nursing services to staff and community groups. Performs personnel management functions. Plans and organizes orientation and in-service training for unit staff members, and participates in guidance and educational programs. Assists in formulating budget. Engages in studies and investigations related to improving nursing care. May direct activities of school of nursing.

Nursing Home Assistant Administrator

Supports the Administrator in the management of daily functions of the nursing home. Determines the effectiveness of operations and ensures compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Prepares staffing schedules to ensure that adequate numbers of appropriately trained professional and auxiliary personnel are on duty at all times to meet the needs of residents. This position typically requires a college degree in a related field and four years of industry experience.: Supports the Administrator in the management of daily functions of the nursing home. Determines the effectiveness of operations and ensures compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Prepares staffing schedules to ensure that adequate numbers of appropriately trained professional and auxiliary personnel are on duty at all times to meet the needs of residents. Coordinates the purchase of equipment and supplies. Resolves problems encountered by nursing home staff, medical staff, visitors, or residents. Assists in hiring, developing, and motivating a qualified support staff for the facility. Maintains and communicates policies and procedures that govern the operation of the facility. This position typically requires a college degree in a related field and four years of industry experience. May directly oversee and manage business office administration for the facility.

Consultant Educational State Board of Nursing

Directs activities concerned with maintaining educational standards established by board of nursing or other legally authorized agency: participates in development and implementation of philosophy, purpose, policies, and plans of board of agency, and consults with and advises administrators of nursing schools in regard to curricula and facilities for instruction. Plans and conducts surveys of nursing schools and advises institutions desiring to establish schools on policies and procedures. Maintains current and comprehensive records and reports and keeps informed on trends and developments within the profession. May assist with administrative functions.

Medical Nursing Manager

Directs or assists in directing activities of nursing staff and activities in nursing services, such as obstetrics, pediatrics, or surgery, or for two or more patient-care units, to ensure patient needs are met in accordance with instructions of physician and hospital administrative procedures. School of Nursing Director

Provides executive leadership, develops, coordinates and evaluates education programs and operational activities for a School of Nursing. Directs and administers educational program in school of nursing: assists in preparation of budget, and administers program within budgetary limitations. Defines and interprets aims and policies of school. Interviews and appoints faculty and administrative staff. Participates in planning curriculums and schedule of instruction. Participates in establishing qualifications for faculty, staff, and students and in recruiting eligible candidates. Resolves problems encountered by faculty members, students and other personnel. Develops objectives and goals, staffing patterns, annual budgets, operational processes, physical facility requirements, and equipment and supply needs for the School of Nursing. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of educational operations and submits reports to management. Responsible for the professional nursing education program planning process and coordinates professional school program development through appropriate planning, analysis, and development. Evaluates nursing education program effectiveness to promote competence. Reviews student applications for the professional nursing program and participates in the interviewing and selection of students. Participates in planning curriculum content and sequences and oversees the preparation of teaching schedules. Oversees the maintenance of student records. Interacts with community and public interest groups concerning nursing education and promotes positive public relations and understanding of the professional school program. Works with the Board of Nursing to ensure that the School of Nursing remains in compliance with standards for professional excellence. Coordinates the school of nursing budget planning process and monitors, analyzes, and responds to budget variances. May supervise the recruitment of students and recommend tuition and fees.

Educational Community Health Nursing Director

Plans and directs educational program for community health agency: develops educational plans for in-service education and orientation of health personnel. Confers with supervisors and staff to ensure efficiency of program. Cooperates with nursing specialists and supervisors to organize educational programs for staff and community. Obtains educational materials for use in teaching and demonstrating nursing and other health related activities. Confers with administrative personnel to determine procedures and techniques for patient care and to implement new programs. Assists in selecting nursing candidates and in orienting new employees. Nursing Aide

Performs a variety of uncomplicated tasks in care of patients in hospital, nursing home, or other medical facility, under direction of nursing and medical staff. Answers signal lights, bells, or intercom system to determine patients' needs. Bathes, dresses, and undresses patients. Serves and collects food trays and feeds patients requiring help. Transports patients, using wheelchair or wheeled cart, or assists patients to walk.: Drapes patients for examinations and treatments, and remains with patients, performing such duties as holding instruments and adjusting lights. Turns and repositions bedfast patients, alone or with assistance, to prevent bedsores. Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates, and food and fluid intake and output, as directed. Cleans, sterilizes, stores, prepares, and issues dressing packs, treatment trays, and other supplies. Gives medication as directed by Physician or Nurse and makes notation of amount and time given. Gives enemas, douches, massages, and alcohol rubs. Applies hot and cold compresses. Prepares food trays, feeds patients, and records food and liquid intake and output. May change bed linens, run errands, direct visitors, and answer telephone. May dust and clean patients' rooms. May be assigned to specific area of hospital, nursing home, or medical facility. May assist nursing staff in care of geriatric patients. May assist in providing medical treatment and personal care to patients in private home settings.
