Architectural Engineering Director

Directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of architectural engineering projects which may include structural, mechanical, electrical, construction, or other engineering fields of building design and construction. Directs planning and establishing of architectural engineering schedules and follows up performance against estimates. Plans and formulates architectural engineering program and organizes project staff according to project requirements.: Assigns project personnel to specific phases or aspects of the project in accordance with engineering disciplines of staff. Reviews plans for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications. Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases. Prepares interim and completion project reports. Oversees preparation of departmental annual budget and controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.

Architectural Drafter

Draws architectural and structural features of buildings and other structures. Requires well-developed drafting and mechanical drawing skills; knowledge of drafting standards, mathematics, science, and engineering technology; and a solid background in computer-aided drafting and design techniques.: Prepares detailed drawings of architectural designs and plans for buildings, parking, and landscaping, according to specifications, sketches, and rough drafts provided by architects, engineers, and designers. Fills in technical details, using drawings, rough sketches, specifications, codes, and calculations previously made by engineers, architects, or scientists. Uses knowledge of standardized building techniques to draw in the details of a structure. Interprets directions; draws rough and detailed sketches, drawings, and plans to scale; and analyzes structural, electrical, and mechanical components of buildings. Prepares specifications, estimates the cost of construction, and verifies survey and layout work during construction phase of building. May use computer-assisted software to prepare drawings and plans. May specialize by the type of structure, such as residential or commercial, or by the kind of material used, such as reinforced concrete, masonry, steel, or timber.

Precast Molder

Tends portable concrete-mixing machine and handcasts ornamental and structural concrete building products, such as blocks, colored tile, simulated-brick facings, fireplace units, and reinforced roof and floor sections: shovels sand, cement, gravel, or pumice into mixing machine. Adds water and pigments as instructed and starts machine. Dumps mix into wheelbarrow and pushes to casting room. Brushes casting oil on molds to prevent adhesion of concrete. Casts products by any of following methods: (1) places molds on vibrating table, shovels mix into molds, starts vibrator to settle concrete or pumice, levels surface of mix with wood bar, and carries filled molds to curing racks. (2) shovels mix into floor molds and sets reinforcing steel rods into mix to cast fireplace, roof, or floor sections. Dismantles forms after concrete has cured, using pry bar and wrench. (3) places bricks into mold and pours concrete over bricks to form solid block. Sets reinforcing rods in mix and clamps mold shut. Removes forms after blocks are cured by releasing clamps or disassembling mold, using pry bar and wrench. May be designated according to product cast as brick veneer maker; cement-tile maker.

Architectural Renderer

Renders perspective drawings of buildings and manufactured products for display or advertising purposes working from sketches and blueprints and using pencil, pen, charcoal, watercolors, or airbrush. May be designated according to specialization as architectural renderer; industrial renderer.

Supervisor Plant

Supervises plant, manufacturing, or branch office operations. Develops plans for efficient equipment, manpower, and material utilization. Supervisor Plant Personnel

Plans and carries out policies relating to all phases of personnel activity at plant location. Recruits, interviews, and selects employees to fill vacant positions. Assists with new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals. Assists in monitoring records of insurance coverage, pension plan, and personnel transactions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations. This position typically reports to a manager and is the first level of supervision in the organization.: Assists in investigating accidents and prepares reports for manager. Meets with manager and shop stewards and for grievance resolution. Provides input on procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover. Assists in monitoring contracts with outside suppliers that provide employee services, such as food services, transportation, or relocation service.

Personnel Plant Supervisor

Assists with new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals. Renovation Plant Supervisor

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in fabrication, assembly, and loading of ammunition and ammunition components: interprets and enforces safety regulations. Devises mechanical methods for production processes. Trains workers in operation of machines and equipment. Directs inspection and gauging of processed or stored materials. May supervise ammunition reclamation and reloading activities and be designated renovation-plant supervisor. Performs other duties as described under supervisor.

Catalyst Plant Supervisor

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in operation of equipment, such as impregnators, precipitators, dissolvers, crushers, washers, driers, and reduction furnaces, to prepare catalysts used in production of butadiene, styrene, and edible oils: performs titration tests and takes ph readings of compounds to determine amounts of acids and neutralizers to be added to compounds for conformance to formula specifications. Calculates amount of catalyst produced, using laboratory reports and computations from standards chart. Directs workers pumping nitrogen through furnace lines to release hydrogen to prevent explosions. Trains workers in machine operation. Performs other duties as described under supervisor.
