Advertising Agent

Plans advertising programs to promote the sale of a company's products or services. Creates advertisements that are presented to the public through a variety of media, such as television, newspapers, billboards, direct mail pieces, and the Internet, to generate sales for the client.: Serves as the client's main contact person in the advertising agency. Studies all of the pertinent details about the client company, the item or service that the company intends to get advertised, and how the customer wants it to be advertised. Orients the customer with what the agency has to offer and explains the production requirements, such as finances, supplies, and deadlines. Reviews advertising trends and consumer surveys. Organizes facts to plan advertising campaigns that may include Internet website campaigns. Consults with customers, company officials, sales departments, and advertising agencies to develop promotional plans. Budgets and submits estimates for advertising programs. Prepares brochures and manuals for publication and formats advertising for an Internet website. Reviews and proofreads advertising copy. Prepare sales contracts.

Advertising Artist

Create original artwork using any of a wide variety of mediums and techniques, such as painting and sculpture.

Advertising Editor

Perform variety of editorial duties, such as laying out, indexing, and revising content of written materials, in preparation for final publication. Include technical editors.

Advertising Writer

Originate and prepare written material, such as scripts, stories, advertisements, and other material. Exclude 'Public Relations Specialists' (27-3031) and 'Technical Writers' (27-3042).

Advertising Manager

Manages the advertising function of the organization working with media personnel, illustrators, photographers, advertising agencies, and sales promotion and marketing departments to promote products and concepts of organizations through various advertising media. Reviews and approves media presentations. Tracks and manages research activities concerned with gathering information or statistics pertinent to planning and execution of sales promotion campaigns. A college degree in addition to sales and/or marketing experience is typically required for carrying out the responsibilities for this job. Typically reports to Advertising Director and may have supervisors reporting to this position; however, in smaller companies the manager may be the first level supervisor over subordinate staff.: Generates advertising income via the Internet through coordination with website managers. Determines promotion strategies and pricing for online advertising opportunities. Allocates advertising space to departments or products of establishment. Reviews rates and classifications applicable to various types of advertising and provides authorization. Oversees the arrangement of all advertisements. May authorize information for publication, such as interviews with reporters or articles describing phases of establishment activity. May serve as establishment representative for geographical district or department. May transact business as agent for advertising accounts. May direct preparation of special promotional features. May monitor and analyze sales promotion results to determine cost effectiveness of promotion campaign.

Advertising Teacher

Teach courses in business administration and management, such as accounting, finance, human resources, labor relations, marketing, and operations research. Include both teachers primarily engaged in teaching and those who do a combination of both teaching and research.

Advertising Analyst

Research market conditions in local, regional, or national areas to determine potential sales of a product or service. May gather information on competitors, prices, sales, and methods of marketing and distribution. May use survey results to create a marketing campaign based on regional preferences and buying habits.

Advertising Designer

Designs advertisements and helps with ad lay-out. Makes flyers and other promotional materials as needed: Produces artwork based upon customer's needs and specifications in conjunction with materials provided. Designs in-house artwork as requested or needed by management. Prioritizes, tracks, handles, and maintains records of the elements, costs, and time schedules of multiple projects. Completes projects within quality specifications, financial constraints, and designated time schedule. Consults with customer or supervisor to evaluate individual project needs.

Advertising Director

Plans and executes advertising policies of organization, and directs workers in advertising department engaged in developing and producing advertisements. Creates or directs the creation of media to further the goals of the organization. Confers with department heads to discuss possible new accounts and to outline new policies or sales promotion campaigns. Confers with officials of newspapers, radio, and television stations, billboard advertisers, and advertising agencies to negotiate advertising contracts. Typically reports to Top Advertising Officer and has managers reporting to this position.: Allocates advertising space to departments or products of establishment. Reviews and approves television and radio advertisements before release. Reviews rates and classifications applicable to various types of advertising and provides authorization. Directs research activities concerned with gathering information or with compilation of statistics pertinent to planning and execution of advertising sales promotion campaign. May authorize information for publication, such as interviews with reporters or articles describing phases of establishment activity. May serve as establishment representative for geographical district or department. May transact business as agent for advertising accounts. May direct preparation of special promotional features. May monitor and analyze sales promotion results to determine cost effectiveness of promotion campaign.
