Manager Accounting

Manages professional level accounting functions and the preparation of reports including earnings, profits/losses, cash balances, and cost accounting. Certifies accuracy of operating and financial reports. Advises upper management regarding matters, such as effective use of resources and methods, for preventing capital being frozen. Interprets accounts and records to upper management. Includes managers whose staffs may consist of a mix of professional, paraprofessional, and/or clerical accounting personnel; excludes managers whose staffs consist of 100 percent nonexempt accounting personnel. Develops, installs, and maintains budgeting systems that provide control of expenditures made to carry out activities, such as advertising and marketing, production and labor, maintenance, or project activities, such as construction of buildings. May recommend future financial plans and policies.

Manages and gives necessary supervision to professional cost accounting activities. Installs cost control procedures and provides staff supervision over cost systems and methods. Supervises the compilation of periodic statements of product cost and prepares appropriate operating reports. Follows up expenditures of appropriations and supervises the assembly of data and comparisons of various budget items. Prepares cost analysis for use in contract adjustments. Excludes managers whose staffs consist of all nonexempt accounting jobs. Typically reports to a director.: Reviews completed product manufacturing costs, and reviews and analyzes unit costs of finished products. Conducts special cost studies for use in setting selling prices and establishing inventory prices for in-process and finished products. Studies economy for various projects and programs. Prepares profit and loss statements for individual products. Supervises the maintenance of inventory records of products, and directs other statistical and tabulating services. Develops or improves methods of calculating and controlling costs. Compiles cost data for use in developing operating budgets. Directs cost audits and their interpretation that will assist management in directing and controlling operations.

Supervisor Accounting Clerks

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in calculating, posting, verifying, and typing duties to obtain and record financial data for use in maintaining accounting and statistical records: compiles reports required by management or government agencies. May perform duties of accounting clerk and bookkeeper. Performs duties as described under supervisor.

Cost Accounting Clerk

Compiles accounting cost reports showing total cost, selling prices, rates profits, or other cost information needed for proper cost accounting. Calculates individual items, such as labor, material, and time costs, relationship of sales or revenues to cost, and overhead expenditures. Examines records to obtain data for calculations.: Examines records, such as time and production sheets, payrolls, operations charts, and schedules, to obtain data for calculations. Prepares reports showing total cost, selling prices, or rates profits. May be designated according to work performed.

Mortgage Accounting Clerk

Keeps records of mortgage loans in mortgage loan establishment, performing any of following clerical duties: records data, such as loan number, selling price, and taxes of mortgaged property. Computes interest and principal payments on loans, using calculating machines. Prepares applications for insurance on property and for extensions on delinquent loans. Types or posts by hand, such data as legal description of property, name of mortgager, amount and type of hazard insurance on property, and results of computations that break down monthly payments into principal, interest, taxes, and optional items. Prepares copies of documents for filing and mailing. May file documents and records.

User Representative International Accounting

Directs activities of information systems group engaged in designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining worldwide integrated finance and accounting system utilized by multinational organization: studies and analyzes general plan proposal, confers with corporate officials to obtain details of general plan, and obtains systems requirements from corporate and international accounting and management personnel to compile raw data for plan development. Develops methods and procedures for project accomplishment, applying knowledge of foreign monetary and tax systems and international accounting conventions. Prepares specifications documenting systems and project requirements, including time frame, staffing, activity schedule, and methods and procedures. Interprets international finance and accounting policies and procedures to provide coding assistance to others engaged in systems design and coding. Oversees entering of source data and programs into computer, analyzes output to identify existence and nature of problems, and orders indicated corrections to design or program. Writes procedures manuals for users, reflecting and adapting individual accounting conventions and monetary and tax systems into overall integrated system. Prepares training plan and trains user staff prior to implementation of system. Edits and audits financial and accounting reports to identify problems in installed system and initiates corrective measures.

Accounting Coordinator

Oversees and coordinates financial and accounting functions within one or more large departments, including daily deposits, verifying all orders and invoices, verifying journal entries, and processing chargebacks. Performs program evaluation and organizational analysis, monitors procedures and methods, prepares oral and written presentation findings and recommends action, and provides project management expertise to coordinate and implement department projects.: Participates in the formulation and administration of accounting and auditing policies and procedures. Develops, evaluates, and implements internal controls. Devises systems to improve the company's fiscal management capabilities and/or compliance with Federal, State, and local ordinances or guidelines. Performs research studies, feasibility studies, benchmarking studies, needs assessments, cost/benefit analysis, cross impact analysis, and management studies. Coordinates clerical staff efforts in preparation of periodic reports such as the annual financial report, financial trends, grant, investment, or other operational reports required to gauge operational efficiency and/or compliance with Federal, State, and local ordinances or guidelines. Verifies accuracy of data processing for accounting information. Provides accounting advice, answers non-routine verbal and written inquiries about accounts payable, and trains other employees with account and accounting responsibilities. Reconciles budget and expense statements with departmental accounts. Assists with special accounting projects. Prepares summary reports of accounts supervised.
