Supervises and coordinates activities of workers located in small communities or rural areas, and engaged in installing, removing, or repairing electric meters and service lines, repairing overhead distribution system, reading meters, and making service collections. Performs other duties as described under supervisor.
Administers design, organization, and implementation of network, and oversees technical support staff who manage and maintain hubs, servers, and routers. Responsibilities require an understanding of both networking and telecommunications theory and practice. May require a college degree or extensive education and experience in a related field.: Interfaces with users, technical teams, and vendors on new technology and system upgrades and to determine software and hardware installation requirements. Reads technical manuals and brochures to determine equipment which meets establishment requirements. Assists in presenting recommendations related to purchasing and installing hardware, software, and telecommunication equipment. Develops and monitors security procedures to safeguard systems from physical harm, viruses, unauthorized users, and damage to data. Analyzes traffic and workload for optimum network performance to ensure organization's objectives are met. Develops and writes procedures for installation, use, and solving problems of communications hardware and software. Prepares charts and diagrams to explain network operation and to train managers and others in proper use. Organizes training programs and prepares checklists and processes for help desk. May oversee or assist in installation of communications hardware. May perform minor equipment repairs.
Directs activities, either directly or through subordinates, concerned with sales of products or services of a highly complex nature. Plans, develops, establishes, and implements policies, procedures, and objectives of technical sales function in accordance with objectives of organization. Confers with organization officials to plan technical sales objectives, to develop sales policies, and to coordinate functions. Develops and maintains accounts and responds to bids and proposals. Targets and develops clients through existing database and contacts, advertising resources, and the Internet. Meets with clients to evaluate their technical needs and to recommend and provide consulting solutions.: Analyzes and interprets records of present and past sales, trends and costs, estimated and realized revenue, administrative commitments, and obligations incurred for management. Examines estimates of material, equipment, and production costs, performance requirements, and delivery schedules to ensure completeness and accuracy. Evaluates the market position of competing technical products, services, and organizations and their marketing and sales techniques. Devises sales strategies and promotions to obtain maximum sales volume. Forecasts semi-annual and annual sales projections. Directs preparation of required reports. Interprets and enforces company policy and practices. Ensures the adequacy of sales training programs. May recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.

Cautions people against use of unsafe beach areas or illegal conduct, such as drinking or fighting, using megaphone. Rescues distressed persons from ocean or adjacent cliffs, using rescue techniques and equipment. Examines injured individuals, administers first aid, and monitors vital signs, utilizing training, antiseptics, bandages, and instruments, such as stethoscope and sphygmomanometer. Administers artificial respiration, utilizing cardiopulmonary or mouth-to-mouth methods, or provides oxygen to revive persons. Compiles emergency and medical treatment report forms and maintains daily information on weather and beach conditions. Occasionally operates switchboard or two-way radio system to maintain contact and coordinate activities between emergency rescue units.
Coordinates activities of personnel engaged in operating generating stations, substations, and lines of electric power system or electrified railway system to ensure adequate production and distribution of electricity to meet power demands: in smaller system, calculates load estimates according to corrected weather and consumer-demand records and notifies switchboard operator at generating stations of electric power required to meet fluctuating demands; or in larger systems receives load schedule for various generating stations from power-plant operator. Monitors control board showing operating condition of lines and equipment throughout system and makes adjustments or directs workers to make adjustments as conditions warrant. Directs substation operator and other workers to deenergize malfunctioning circuits or adjusts switches to ensure safety of maintenance crew and avoid interruptions of service during repairs. Notifies maintenance crew of location and deenergization of troubled sector, and verifies that workers are clear of repaired equipment before directing energization of circuit. Contacts other utilities by telephone to arrange exchange of power according to existing contracts or in emergency and coordinates tie-in with other systems. Compiles operational records. May operate console of computer which is programmed to automatically perform load-control functions. May calculate discharge rate of water in reservoirs utilizing reports of rain, river flow, and water level in reservoirs, and directs setting of watergates at hydroelect.
