 Description Statement of Purpose: Under general supervision of the charge nurse, and directly responsible to the Clinical Director, the staff nurse is accountable for the delivery of skilled patient care, unit activities, and supervision of the team members for a specified shift.

 Requirements

 

- Direct patient care activities based on Nursing Process

- Assessment:  Assess the patient and family needs and completes admission assessment documentation

- Initiates Patient Care Plan from assessment information which includes nursing diagnoses, goals, and  interventions

- Documents patient status at the time of admission, transfer, or discharge to and from nursing unit

- Planning includes the patient and family in formulating the plan of care

- Sets priorities in planning for patient needs to include patient and/or family teaching

- Communicates with and utilizes available resources people within the facility and community in planning all aspects of nursing care

- Considers social, cultural, and economic factors as they relate to specific patients and families and documents this information on the plan of care

- Implementation:  Performs technical skills safely and according to accepted procedure using Universal Precautions as indicated.

- Demonstrates ability to use equipment according to accepted procedure

Qualifications:


- Current California Registered Nurse License
- Minimum of one (1) year current experience as a Registered Nurse working with the newborn, parturient and post partum patients required
- Completed and past an 8-houir fetal monitoring class and/or Nursery class 
- Labor and Delivery certification preferred
- Current BCLS and NRP certification
